Saudi Wealth Fund apos;s Savvy Games Group To Invest 37.8 Billion

"Savvy Games Group is one part of our ambitious strategy aiming to make Saudi Arabia the ultimate global hub for the games and esports sector by 2030," Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman said, according to SPA.

'It's been nearly 40 years since the first original Mario Brothers was released in Japan,' he said in a video which aired before the sneak peek. 'Today, lots of people from around the world are playing Mario games.

"We recognise this has presented issues for the recycling industry as it scales up and adjusts to a role in product stewardship with its increased focus on transparency and accountability," he wrote in a report on the scheme's first six months of operation.

Another 20 billion riyals will be invested in mature industry partners who bring expertise to Savvy's portfolio and 2 billion riyals will target industry disruptors "to grow early-stage games and esports companies."

There's still a long way to go, but it aims to end the disposal of toxic batteries at landfill sites and recover valuable elements that are in limited supply: copper, cobalt, nickel, manganese and the so-called metal of the decade, lithium.

The scheme is focused on making it ultra-convenient for Australian consumers to recycle batteries and drastically reduce the estimated 90 per cent of batteries that wound up in landfill before the scheme began.

"This growth is also leading to concerns about the impact of new energy systems on the long-term availability of resources and the economic and environmental impacts of the extraction and use of critical metals and other elements.

The investments will include 70 billion riyals to take several minority stakes in companies that support Savvy's game development agenda and 50 billion riyals to acquire "a leading game publisher to become a strategic development partner".

Sept 29 (Reuters) - Saudi Arabia's Savvy Games Group, owned by sovereign wealth fund PIF, will invest 142 billion riyals ($37.8 billion) in initiatives aimed at making the kingdom a global hub for gaming, state news agency SPA said on Thursday.

'And all this hard work's been worth it though, I am so proud to have been able to collaborate with you and Miyamoto-san, as well as the entire Nintendo and the Illumination team on this cinematic experience.
