Sept 15 (Reuters) - Britain's antitrust watchdog said on Thursday it would launch an in-depth probe into Xbox maker Microsoft's $69-billion purchase of "Call of Duty" maker Activision Blizzard after the tech giant failed to offer remedies to soothe competition concerns.

This is not the first film adaptation of the beloved video games, with a live-action film starring Bob Hoskins and John Leguizamo released in 1993. However the film, Super Mario Bros., bombed at the box office and opened to dire reviews. 

'We have been working on this movie, together with Chris Meledandri from Illumination, for a long time, from brainstorming and all the way through production. The time flew by as we were having fun figuring out how to depict the Super Mario characters and world.'

Graham Simpson from Canaccord said that as the UK stares down 'the barrel of a recession', bidders will be looking for firms with strong cash flows, high profit margins and low debt that could 'weather the inflation and poker Pkv interest rates storm'.
